1963 | The Pooh Perplex | Frederick C. Crews | First Edition Hardcover with Dust Jacket

$10.00

This one is such a fun oddity. The Pooh Perplex: A Freshman Casebook takes the familiar world of Winnie the Pooh and turns it into a sharp, very tongue in cheek parody of academic literary criticism. Frederick C. Crews presents a series of mock scholarly essays that “analyze” Pooh through different critical lenses, including Freudian, Marxist, religious, and other academic approaches. It is clever, strange, and genuinely funny, especially for readers who enjoy literature, satire, or anything Pooh related.

This copy is especially nice because it is a 1963 first edition from E. P. Dutton & Co., with the copyright page explicitly stating First Edition. It also retains its original illustrated dust jacket and includes E. H. Shepard illustrations tied to the original Pooh books.

Condition:
Very good vintage condition overall. Original dust jacket is present and still shows the original $2.95 price on the flap. Jacket has light age toning, minor edge wear, and a small amount of surface wear consistent with age. Red hardcover underneath is clean and well preserved. Interior pages look clean, bright, and firmly bound with no obvious writing or major damage visible.
