1977–1978 | The Lord of the Rings Trilogy | J.R.R. Tolkien | Vintage Ballantine Paperbacks | Tolkien Cover Art
A complete vintage three-volume Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien, published by Ballantine Books in the late 1970s. This set includes The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King, all with the distinctive vintage cover artwork based on Tolkien’s own designs.
The copyright pages shown identify these as later printings of the classic Ballantine editions, with The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers dated January 1978 and The Return of the King dated November 1977.
These are very well-loved vintage reading copies and show substantial age and use, including heavy cover and spine wear, creasing, softened corners, page toning, edge wear, and some writing/scribbling on preliminary pages. Please review all photos carefully. They are not collector-grade copies, but they have wonderful vintage character and make a great affordable set for someone who loves older Tolkien editions.
Includes:
The Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
The Return of the King
Condition: Acceptable vintage condition with significant cosmetic wear and some interior markings as photographed.
