A funny, slightly absurd story about two children who think their grandpa is incredibly predictable. Everything at his house is always the same, from breakfast to the newspaper, and no matter what complaint they bring him, Grandpa gives the exact same response: “Could be worse.”
Then one morning, Grandpa completely surprises them by launching into a wildly exaggerated adventure story involving disasters, danger and increasingly unbelievable situations. It turns his familiar saying into the punchline of the whole book and gives the kids a very different view of their supposedly boring grandfather. It is quirky, dry, imaginative and very much in James Stevenson’s style, with loose watercolor illustrations throughout. The original book was published by Greenwillow Books in 1977 and runs 32 pages.
Condition
Good vintage condition. Hardcover with light shelf and edge wear. Interior appears clean and bright from the photos, with the binding intact. There is an old sticker on the front cover. Please see photos for exact condition.
