Circa 1999 Little Bear | Else Holmelund Minarik | Maurice Sendak | Trumpet Club Edition
Originally published in 1957, Little Bear is one of the enduring classics of early-reader literature. Written by Else Holmelund Minarik and illustrated by legendary children’s book artist Maurice Sendak, this I Can Read title follows Little Bear through four gentle stories of childhood imagination, family and everyday adventure.
Little Bear bundles up to play in the snow, imagines a trip to the moon, celebrates his birthday and ends his days with the comfort of Mother Bear. Minarik’s simple, approachable language was created for beginning independent readers, while Sendak’s warm, detailed illustrations give the book its unmistakable vintage charm.
This copy is a Trumpet Club Special Edition, produced for distribution through the school market, circa 1999. It retains the classic Maurice Sendak illustrations and vintage I Can Read Book design.
