One of Ernest Hemingway’s best-known novels, A Farewell to Arms follows Frederic Henry, an American serving as an ambulance driver with the Italian army during World War I. Against the violence and uncertainty of war, Henry falls in love with British nurse Catherine Barkley, turning the novel into both a wartime story and a deeply personal exploration of love, loss, disillusionment, and the search for something meaningful in a world that can change without warning.

This collectible 1979 Franklin Library edition was produced as a beautiful library-quality presentation of Hemingway’s classic and is illustrated by acclaimed artist Bernard Fuchs. It features an ornate reddish-brown binding with extensive gilt decoration, raised bands and gold lettering along the spine, decorative boards, gilt page edges, and a ribbon page marker. It is a particularly striking edition for a Hemingway collection, classic literature shelf, or decorative home library.

Condition: Near fine to near-perfect vintage condition. This copy has been exceptionally well preserved with clean boards, strong gilt decoration, a beautiful spine, clean interior pages and very little visible wear. Please review photos for exact condition.

More worn examples can currently be found in the $23–$30 range, while nicer copies are listed around $40–$42, and exceptionally clean or “as new” examples are currently listed around $52–$55 before shipping.  This copy is priced according to its unusually clean condition while still staying below some comparable dealer listings.
