1949 | Atlantis: The Antediluvian World | Ignatius Donnelly | Illustrated Hardcover

R$61.00

Originally published in 1882, Ignatius Donnelly’s Atlantis: The Antediluvian World became one of the most influential books ever written about the legendary lost civilization of Atlantis. Donnelly examines Plato’s accounts alongside ancient mythology, flood traditions, archaeology, language and cultural similarities in an attempt to argue that Atlantis was once a real civilization. This fascinating 1949 modern revised edition was edited by Atlantis scholar Egerton Sykes and includes illustrations and additional material reflecting discoveries and theories that emerged after Donnelly’s original publication. A particularly fun find for collectors of unusual history, mythology and vintage esoteric books.

Condition: Fair vintage condition. Hardcover itself remains intact, but the original dust jacket is heavily worn with large tears and missing portions, especially along the front edge. Jacket also has chipping, creasing and significant edge wear. Pages show age toning and scattered foxing. Former bookstore stamp on title page. Please see photos closely for condition.
