K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo is a non aerosol dry shampoo designed to refresh hair between washes, absorb excess oil and leave hair feeling cleaner without the heavy powdery buildup of many traditional dry shampoos. This is the full size 4 oz bottle and is brand new in the original box.

Ingredient transparency: This formula contains Alcohol Denat., which ingredient scanning apps may flag because “denatured alcohol” does not identify the specific denaturing agent on an ingredient label. K18 states that its products are phthalate free, so diethyl phthalate is not being used here as the denaturant.

The formula also contains fragrance, and K18 does not disclose every individual material that makes up its proprietary fragrance blend. However, K18 formulates this product to a fairly specific restricted ingredient standard. For fragrance specifically, that standard requires the fragrance itself to comply with the entire restricted ingredient list, requires fragrance allergens to be individually disclosed according to EU cosmetic regulations, and requires compliance with IFRA fragrance safety standards. Brands following this standard are also strongly encouraged to disclose fragrance constituents present at 100 ppm or greater. Their synthetic fragrance is below 1% of the total formula and by their standard can not used as a loophole to hide ingredients otherwise prohibited by the standard. 

That fragrance restriction includes no phthalates and prohibits certain fragrance materials such as nitromusks and polycyclic musks, including musk ketone, hexamethylindanopyran, acetyl hexamethyl tetralin and acetyl hexamethyl indan. The broader standard also places impurity limits on ethoxylated ingredients and prohibits or restricts numerous other ingredient categories. 

So while this would probably still get flagged by a very strict ingredient scanning app because it contains Alcohol Denat. and a proprietary fragrance blend, I would personally consider it approved with context. A scanner seeing the word “fragrance” or “Alcohol Denat.” does not tell you the standards applied to the finished formulation or what is actually permitted inside that fragrance blend.
